Breaking news! Geely Galaxy L6 EM-i will officially hit the market on February 12, with a friendly presale price starting at 89,800 yuan, directly targeting the BYD Qin PLUS DM.

The new car is equipped with the all-new Thor plug-in hybrid system, offering a maximum CLTC pure electric range of 140 kilometers and fuel consumption as low as 3.8L/100km in depleted-charge mode. It retains the sleek 4,782mm body and is further equipped with the Flyme Auto intelligent cockpit.

As an upgraded version of the current model that ranks 16th on the compact sedan sales chart, can this EM-i version break into the top ten? Let's keep talking!

As a veteran who has been steeped in the auto circle for years, Little Eight called himself an insider the moment he first saw the Galaxy L6 EM-i configuration sheet.

First, the core of this move—the all-new 1.5L Thor electric hybrid system. Although power drops from the current model's 120kW to 82kW, the 136N·m torque combined with a 160kW motor is absolutely sufficient for urban commuting.

The key point is energy consumption! The 3.8L depleted-charge fuel consumption is brighter than the commonly seen 4L+ figures of competitors in the same class. If real-world testing can keep this level stable, the gas station VIP card is likely to gather dust~

In terms of design, it plays a "familiar stranger" trick, retaining the signature full-width LED light strip and fastback styling, but switching the hidden door handles back to a mechanical structure.

Little Eight would say this change is practical—folks in the north no longer have to worry about door handles freezing in winter. The newly added black sport package and large rear wing are surprises. Combined with the rear space brought by the 2,752mm wheelbase, this is a rhythm of wanting both family practicality and swagger!

The cockpit upgrade definitely deserves praise! The 14.6-inch extra-large horizontal screen + 10.2-inch instrument panel, and the Flyme Auto system's smoothness is said to be 30% better than the current model. Real-world testing found that the dual phone slot design below the center console is super thoughtful—coffee and phone can be placed at the same time without fighting for space.

However, the retention of physical buttons is a bit conservative, and air conditioning adjustment still relies on the touchscreen, making operation while driving slightly troublesome.

The power parameters may not look "furious," but Little Eight, who has test-driven the engineering vehicle, can pat his chest and guarantee: below 80km/h on city roads, power is available on demand, and the motor's 262N·m torque delivers an obvious push-in-the-back feel.

When accelerating again at high speed, the engine intervention is slightly hesitant, but considering the starting price of 89,800 yuan, what more could you ask for? The choice of two battery versions is also smart—for daily commuting, the 140km range version can basically be driven as an EV, while those who often drive long distances will find the 60km version more cost-effective.

Speaking of competitor comparisons, it gets exciting! The BYD Qin PLUS DM starts at 79,800 yuan and looks more appealing, but the Galaxy L6 EM-i's extra 17-inch wheels, larger central control screen, and OTA upgrades are worth the ticket price.

The Fengyun A8 top trim sells for 149,900 yuan but does not offer L2 driving assistance, while the Galaxy's 149,800 yuan top trim packages the full intelligent driving system. The Changan UNI-V Smart Electric iDD does have a stronger sporty feel, but its rear space is directly crushed by the Galaxy L6 EM-i.

However, Little Eight also has to remind family members preparing to splurge: although the new infotainment system is smooth, the app ecosystem still needs improvement; the rear seat padding is still on the firm side; and the lack of specific fast-charging power data is a small regret.

Personal advice: after the official price is announced on February 12, go to a store for a test drive and compare the DM-i and iDD systems before deciding.
