On June 22, XPeng officially announced that the first SUV in its MONA series will be named the MONA L03. The company stated that in the MONA series, M stands for sedan and L stands for SUV, with M and L together forming the word "MONALISA." The new car is expected to make its official debut in July.

The MONA L03 completed its MIIT filing in April this year. In terms of exterior, the new car continues the MONA family design language, with a closed-off grille paired with "T"-shaped headlight clusters at the front, and an active grille shutter with a blacked-out treatment on the front bumper. The side profile adopts a fastback roof design, equipped with semi-hidden door handles and frameless doors.

In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 4650 (4672)/1920/1600mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2850mm, and adopts a five-seat layout. The rear features a through-type taillight and is equipped with a blacked-out diffuser. The new car was developed under the leadership of former Ferrari designer JuanMa Lopez.

In terms of powertrain, the new car offers both extended-range and pure electric versions. The extended-range version is equipped with a 1.5L range extender (maximum power 70kW) and a 183kW drive motor, with a WLTC pure electric range of 241-257km and a combined range of over 1000km. The pure electric version is equipped with a 183kW drive motor, matched with a 56kWh or 69kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, with CLTC range covering 505km to 650km.

Quick take:

The MONA L03 is the second model in XPeng's MONA series and also its first SUV. The M03 has sold well, and whether the L03 can carry that momentum forward depends on pricing. With a 2850mm wheelbase, up to 650km of pure electric range, and an extended-range version available, there are no obvious weaknesses in the hardware. After its July debut, if the price can land around 150,000 yuan, it should attract quite a few young buyers.
