【Car Media丨Test Drive】As a mid-to-large luxury smart SUV under the AITO brand, the AITO M7 has become a popular choice for family users and business professionals since its launch, thanks to its deeply Huawei-empowered smart cockpit, innovative space design, and balanced driving and riding performance. After test-driving it in multiple scenarios, the balance this car strikes between “home use” and “technology” is impressive.

The exterior design of the AITO M7 leans toward a traditional and steady style. The front face adopts the family-style through-type grille and squared-off lines, paired with hidden door handles and 20-inch two-tone wheels, creating an overall visual effect that is imposing and dignified. The body dimensions are 5020/1945/1775mm, with a wheelbase of 2820mm. Although the wheelbase is not particularly outstanding in its class, by optimizing the powertrain layout (a horizontally mounted six-in-one range extender design), the longitudinal space utilization inside the cabin is extremely high, with the total longitudinal space of the three rows reaching 2605mm. The rear through-type taillights and rounded lines echo the front face, making it suitable for users who pursue understated practicality.

Stepping inside, the cockpit of the AITO M7 is mainly styled with minimalist technology. The 15.6-inch 2K central control screen occupies the visual center, with a screen-to-body ratio of 90%, delicate display effects, and operating smoothness comparable to a high-end tablet. The Huawei HarmonyOS smart cockpit is the core highlight, including one-tap direct access to high-frequency functions, support for continuous voice commands (such as “turn on the air conditioning and play music”), accurate dialect recognition, and four-zone positioning that allows rear passengers to operate as well; seamless transfer of navigation and music with Huawei phones, and even support for in-car games, expanding the entertainment scenarios of the vehicle system; 19-speaker HUAWEI SOUND audio, dual 40W wireless fast charging, active noise cancellation, and other functions, with details fully covered.

The AITO M7 focuses on 6-seat (2+2+2) and large 5-seat versions. Seat design is its core competitiveness, including: zero-gravity seats, with the second row equipped with a one-touch floating mode that adjusts the backrest, leg rest, and left-right movement via electric motors to form a 113° ergonomic reclining posture, significantly reducing fatigue on long journeys. It should be noted that this function needs to be enabled when no one is in the front passenger seat; third-row practicality, although leg support is average, the backrest supports 6-level adjustment (maximum 33°), and is equipped with independent air vents, cup holders, and side windows, so short trips are stress-free; storage space, the trunk has a regular volume of 686L, which can be expanded to 1619L after folding down the third row, accommodating 5 24-inch suitcases; the area under the front center console is hollowed out for convenient placement of personal items.

The AITO M7 is equipped with a 1.5T range extender + dual motors (total power of the four-wheel-drive version is 330kW), offering modes such as pure electric priority and fuel priority. The rear-wheel-drive version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, while the four-wheel-drive version takes only 4.8 seconds. Urban driving is mainly electric-driven, with brisk starts and linear mid-to-high-end acceleration. When the range extender intervenes, noise control is excellent, and the experience is close to that of a pure electric vehicle. In terms of chassis tuning, the front MacPherson + rear multi-link combination leans toward comfort, with soft vibration filtering, but there is obvious body roll when cornering at high speed; the minimum turning radius is 5.87m, and flexibility is better than that of the same class. Range and energy consumption performance: the 40kWh ternary lithium battery (CATL) provides WLTC 150km (rear-wheel drive) pure electric range, and the combined range with a full tank and full charge exceeds 1000km, suitable for worry-free long-distance travel.

Editor's comment: With Huawei technology as its backing, the AITO M7 performs outstandingly in intelligent interaction, seat comfort, and space practicality. Although its exterior design is conservative and suspension support is on the soft side, its balanced product strength is enough to meet family users' dual needs for luxury and practicality. If the budget is sufficient, the four-wheel-drive smart driving version is recommended to unlock Huawei ADS advanced assisted driving functions and further experience “man and car as one” intelligent travel.
